Musket and Trillium annual golf tournament raises $475,000 for Texas Children’s Hospital

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals event breaks company fundraising record

HOUSTON, Oct. 18, 2023 Musket Corp. and Trillium Energy Solutions, members of the Love's Family of Companies, are proud to announce that the 10th annual Drive for a Child fundraiser benefiting Texas Children's Hospital raised $475,000 to improve the lives of children. Since 2013, Musket and Trillium have raised more than $2.8 million for Texas Children's Hospital, a Children's Miracle Network Hospital (CMNH).

"We are grateful to have broken another fundraising record with the generosity of our amazing partner sponsors,” said JP Fjeld-Hansen, executive vice president of Musket. “This year’s event, held at TopGolf in Houston, included over 500 attending donors giving their time and monetary gifts to help raise funds to change children’s lives and improve their health and well-being. We are committed to supporting local children hospitals’ life-saving work in the communities where we work and live.”

Funds raised this year will help make a difference for patients like David, Texas Children’s 2023 CMNH Miracle Child, who was diagnosed just a few short months after his birth with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). NF1 is a genetic disease that causes tumors to develop anywhere in the nervous system, including the brain and spine. Multiple specialists at Texas Children’s Hospital continue to care for David and have played a key role in enhancing his health and quality of life.

Despite his obstacles, David is excelling at school and discovering new talents and interests, including fundraising to buy toys for cancer patients. When David was 6 years old, he created a way to brighten the days for kids in the hospital. This extraordinary young man with a generous spirit shared with his parents that he wanted to buy toys to donate to kids in the hospital. Today, David is 12 years old, and his family has started a non-profit, which has raised $85,000 for David’s Toy Project.

“Texas Children's Hospital is honored that Musket and Trillium continue to support the hospital through their annual Drive for a Child event,” said Jennifer Smart, manager of philanthropy for Texas Children's Hospital. “We feel a special connection with the companies and are grateful for their generosity and support.”

Texas Children’s Hospital, a not-for-profit health care organization, is committed to creating a healthier future for children and women throughout the global community by leading in patient care, education and research. Consistently ranked as the best children’s hospital in Texas, and among the top in the nation, Texas Children’s has garnered widespread recognition for its expertise and breakthroughs in pediatric health.
